Riverain Bowls Club Youth Section
Riverain Indoor Bowls Club runs bowling sessions for young players under the age of 18 in Hertfordshire.
Each session costs £4 per child and all you need to get started is a clean pair of flat soled trainers or shoes.
The juniors meet from 9.15am to 11.30am most Saturday mornings at Riverain from October to April and is led by a team
of highly qualified coaching staff headed by Eddie Plume.
The coaches are dedicated to working with the young players to help them reach their potential and are all trained in safeguarding.
What can the Young Players expect at our Saturday Sessions?
Our nationally qualified coaches combine both the improvement of bowling skills with
an element of fun. There are singles and pairs competitions. "Fun" competitive
trophies as well as the English Indoor Bowling Association Awards scheme.
For the younger element we have our own "County" award scheme ranging from the basic
Bronze level, through to Silver and Gold. Once a bowler has achieved the county
Gold, we then take them on through the extremely skilful
EIBA scheme.
This is difficult even for many top club bowlers be we have had a number of
successes at the Gold Level.
County and International Success
Quite a number of the current and former Young Bowlers have had good successes at,
not only County level, but have gone on to represent England on the International
stage.
Besides winning both indoor and outdoor County finals, a number of the girls and
boys have been active in the County squads playing inter-county competitions.
There have also been a number of Champions on the National Stage both as Young
Bowlers and also Senior competitions.
We have seen representatives both indoors and outdoors playing in the National
under-18s, under-25s and even the Senior squads for England.
